Paul tells Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
I believe Paul outlines a very simple plan for any missionary to follow. It is our desire to be part of a church planting movement in Colombia following the wisdom here.
- And the things that thou hast heard of me, The first thing that is evident is that Timothy had received clear and concise instruction from his mentor, Paul. I have had the privilege of knowing my pastor Austin Gardner for more than 10 years now, and being under his direct leadership for more than 2 years. It is our plan to take that which we have learned of him and the leaders of our church, and teach this to the people of Colombia.
- the same commit thou to faithful men, The second part of this plan is to find faithful men whom to impart the same teaching. After winning folks to Christ we will then begin to watch and pray for those men that are faithful and willing to put into practice the doctrines taught them.
- who shall be able to teach others also. And the third part of Paul’s instruction is to find men who are able to teach to others what they learn. Many people do a great job at imparting wisdom, but it falls and dies with the men they work with, because those chosen do not or are not able to teach it to others. For the work to continue and the church advance , we must teach and work with those who can replicate it with others.
